Health Camp In Gorkha

SAVE THE HEART (STH) in collaboration with Rotary Club, Rotaract Club of Gorkha and Tribhuvan University, Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center organized two days Free Heart Camp for needy and underprivileged people of Gorkha at District Hospital of Gorkha on 22nd and 23rd January 2016.
The camp received overwhelming response and 1465 patients were benefited from the Camp. Patients including from a 9 months’ baby to 80 years old men and women, not only from Gorkha Bazar but from earthquake devastated village Barpark, Kurintar and many other rural areas of Gorkha district were benefitted from this camp. A Team of 32 medical persons including doctors, nurses, technicians and members of STH put up untiring efforts for the satisfaction of all the patients from 8 am to 7pm on both days. There were two ECG machines and one Echo machine available at the camp for necessary check-up, where 264 patients received free Echo Service while 322 patients received  ECG service . The free Heart Camp was led by Cardiac Surgeon and President of SAVE THE HEART Dr. Anil Bhattarai.

The main objective of this camp was to diagnose different heart diseases and spread an awareness about heart diseases and it’s preventions among local people of those areas. Some patients have been short listed for necessary follow-up and checkups.  According to Dr. Bhattarai, “around 88 patients were found with different types of heart diseases who must have a heart surgery in near future.”
Additionally, SAVE THE HEART has donated 100 pieces of Blankets to the victims of the devastating Earthquake of April 2015, in Gorkha.
