Free Health Check-up Camp in Siranchowk, Gorkha

Save the Heart, an NGO dedicated to fighting heart disease and promoting cardiovascular health, recently organized a Free Heart Check-up Camp in Siranchowk Rural Municipality, Gorkha District, Nepal. Held on February 3, 2024, this event marked a significant milestone in the organization's mission to provide accessible healthcare to communities.

With the support of Siranchowk Rural Municipality and technical assistance from renowned medical institutions such as the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, and Nepal Cardio Diabetes & Thyroid Center, Save the Heart was able to offer a range of essential services free of charge.

The camp saw a remarkable turnout, with 1082 individuals from the rural municipality availing themselves of screenings and consultations. Among the services provided were 198 echocardiography tests, 290 electrocardiograms, and distribution of vital medications, valued at approximately NRs. 6.5 lakh.

The impact of the camp extended beyond medical interventions. For many residents, the event offered a lifeline, sparing them the expense and inconvenience of traveling long distances to access specialized care in urban centers like Kathmandu. Moreover, by raising awareness about heart health and providing preventive screenings. The success of the Free Heart Check-up Camp is a testament to the power of community collaboration and grassroots initiatives in addressing healthcare disparities.
